Jon Lee, owner and founder of Bread Poets Baking Co. in Bismarck, announced Tuesday he will run for one of three open spots on the Bismarck School Board.

Lee was selected to serve as an interim board member in August after former Board Member Scott Halvorson resigned.

"I’ve spent the last year building relationships and learning the multifaceted issues that face the district," Lee said. "I’ve met with many incredible parents who share a passion for our educational system. I look forward to what the future holds for Bismarck Public Schools and welcome the opportunity to continue in my role."

Lee, who opened Bread Poets 20 years ago, and his wife, Juanita, have three children enrolled in Bismarck Public Schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

He grew up in Bismarck, attending Northridge Elementary and Hughes Junior High. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in mass communications and an emphasis in business.
