A 1999 Buick caught fire in the parking lot outside the Target store at Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck on early Tuesday morning. The blaze affected two other vehicles parked nearby the Park Avenue model.

Bismarck police and fire personnel responded after midnight Monday to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Target.

A 56-year old Bismarck man reportedly told police his 1999 Buick Park Avenue was parked and idling in the parking lot when he saw flames emitting from its rear. He got out and called 911 as his car was engulfed in flames.

Two other vehicles nearby were also affected, including a 2010 Chevrolet HHR with scorching on the driver's side door and quarter panel, and a 2012 Dodge Avenger with no apparent damage but close enough to the fire's heat to possibly be affected.

Both vehicles were owned by Target employees. The Buick was destroyed.

The Bismarck Fire Department extinguished the blaze, reportedly ruling the cause as mechanical in nature and not suspicious.
