A Bismarck man has been charged with three counts of Class Cfelony aggravated assault after allegedly wielding a knife during a fight.
Cole Hinsley, 22, was charged Monday with the offenses, two of which carry two-year minimum mandatory sentences due to allegations of use of a deadly weapon.
South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick set bond for Hinsley at $25,000 cash or surety.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Dwight Offerman said officers were called to the 3000 block of East Rosser Avenue at 5:19 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fight.
He said officers had a hard time trying to determine what had gone on.
"It was hard to say, because alcohol was very prevalent there," he said.
Five people were taken to the hospital following the incident, including Hinsley, who was taken there to ensure that his intoxication level was not too high for him to be placed in jail, Offerman said.
Reuben Stretches, 19, of Fort Yates, remains hospitalized with numerous stab wounds to the torso. His condition is unknown, but he is alert, Offerman said.
Sherry Martin, 19, of Fort Yates, also remains hospitalized with a knife wound to the head, Offerman said. He said her condition also is unknown.
Stephanie Miner, 22, of Bismarck, also remains hospitalized with a severe bite to her thumb, Offerman said.
Delano Miner, 23, of Fort Yates, was treated for severe bite wounds to his chest, then was treated and released, Offerman said. He said Miner was then taken to jail on warrants.
Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Bryan Denham said in court on Monday that two people required surgery due to the alleged conduct of Hinsley. He did not specify which two required such treatment.
According to court documents, Hinsley is charged in connection with the injuries to Stretches, Martin and Stephanie Miner.
