Nominations sought for Tribune Awards

Give honor where honor is due - that's what the Tribune Awards are all about.

Readers can now nominate people for the annual Tribune Awards, which acknowledge the selfless efforts of individuals on behalf of others - individuals, neighbors or community. Past winners have been life savers, someone who has actually, physically saved another person from death, and people who have, day after day, lent a hand to someone in need. Tribune Award winners have organized community events, done charitable work and led a life of community service. They've offered vision, courage and charity.

The Tribune Awards are about honoring ordinary people who have done extraordinary things.

Last year's winners were:

n Patriot Riders - Shield for Grieving

n Mahlon Schweigert and Nathan Nagel, members of the Hettinger Volunteer Fire Department - True Life Savers.

n Dr. Craig Lambrecht - A Healer at Heart

n Tudy Fennern - Banquet Host

n Jim White - Help for Future Rodeo Stars

Each year, on Jan. 1, the Tribune prints the winners on the front page of the newspaper, along with an account of the winners' good works.

Readers can nominate people for the award by submitting the person's name and a short reason for the nomination. The deadline is Dec. 14. Forward entries to:Tribune Awards, P.O. Box 5516, Bismarck, N.D. 58502, or ken.rogers@;bismarcktribune.com.

The Tribune Awards were first presented on Jan. 1, 1988.
