Mandan police are investigating a hit-and-run wreck that sent a woman to the hospital.

Sgt. Jay Gruebele said a 22-year-old Mandan woman was walking in the parking lot of the Colonial Bar, 4631 Memorial Highway, after bar closing early Saturday morning when a pickup hit her.

The pickup had been "doing cookies and tearing through the lot," according to witnesses, Gruebele said.

Police were called to the scene at 1:13 a.m. Saturday, and Metro Area Ambulance officials were working on the woman, Gruebele said. He did not know the extent of the woman's injuries, but said she was admitted into a hospital and had a cut on her head.

The pickup involved in the wreck was later recovered, and officers learned it was registered to Kist Livestock, Gruebele said. He said authorities at the auction yard checked on the pickup, noticed it was missing and reported it stolen.

Gruebele said the driver of the pickup was described as a man, but no other details have been released.

Anyone with information about the hit and run or the driver of the pickup should call the Mandan Police Department at 667-3455 or Bismarck Area Crime Stoppers at 224-TIPS (224-8477).
