A Bismarck man faces charges in McLean County related to allegations he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

Buck Crowell, 23, was charged Monday with Class AA felony gross sexual imposition, Class Cfelony corruption of minors, and two counts of Class Cfelony aggravated assault.

If convicted of the gross sexual imposition charge, he faces a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.

According to an affidavit from McLean County Deputy Rick Schwalk, a 15-year-old girl reported she and others were drinking at Crowell's cabin near Crooked Lake on Aug. 5. She and Crowell were kissing, witnesses said.

The girl said she went in the cabin and Crowell sexually assaulted her and attempted to strangle her when she resisted, the affidavit said. The girl's sister tried to get Crowell off of her, and he also is accused of attempted to strangle her, the affidavit said.

The affidavit said the girl went to a sexual assault nurse examiner, who found injuries consistent with a sexual assault.

Crowell was arrested by Bismarck policeat 10:29 a.m. Friday at his home in northwest Bismarck.
