Police have arrested seven teenage boys for allegedly breaking into vehicles and at least one garage in Bismarck.
Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said police were called to the 4400 block of Valley Drive at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday for a report of several people possibly breaking into homes and vehicles. The witness, who saw several males running around the homes, was able to give information about a vehicle the males were driving.
Officers stopped the vehicle, in which four teenage boys were riding, and found stolen items inside, Ziegler said.
He said three other teenage boys were linked to the crimes through investigation and also were arrested.
The boys are accused of stealing a "laundry list"of items from vehicles and at least one garage in the northwest Bismarck neighborhood near Horizon Middle School, Ziegler said. Items recovered include cash, tools, music devices, flashlights, sunglasses, alcohol, an airsoft machine gun, cigarettes, a switchblade comb, fireworks and vehicle keys.
Police did not have a total dollar amount for the items allegedly stolen as of Wednesday.
The seven boys, all of Bismarck, were cited with burglary, theft from a motor vehicle, minor in possession, use of tobacco and curfew violations, Ziegler said. He said the boys, two 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, were placed in the Youth Correctional Center and could face additional charges as an investigation continues.
Some of the property believed to have been stolen has not been reported stolen, Ziegler said. He said officers learned through the investigation that the boys may have stolen items from vehicles in southwest Bismarck. Anyone who has information about additional thefts or who has had items stolen from a garage or car should contact the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212 or Bismarck Area Crime Stoppers at 224-TIPS.
