Hettinger - The second annual horticulture and tree workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Hettinger Research Center in Hettinger. Speakers will talk about what's new in woody plants and flowers, square-foot gardening and tree insects and diseases. A $5 fee covers registration and lunch. Also, the Hettinger High School spring concert will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Roberts Reinke Auditorium, with a medley of small and large choir and band groups performing. Beach - The Southwest District Health Unit's Women Infant Child nutrition clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the public health office in Beach. Steele - The Steele City Council invites residents to an informational town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Steele Community Center. The city will discuss plans for 2007, as well as uses for special tax funds, and take reports from the Steele Betterment Group and the Kidder County Community Health Center.

Napoleon - Logan County emergency responders will participate in an emergency exercise at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Napoleon Public School. The three-hour exercise will test the school's emergency response plan and will use outside assets, including a bomb squad and dogs and a SWAT team. Sightseers and non-emergency personnel are asked to stay away from the exercise perimeters.
