Workforce Safety and Insurance is prepping for two reviews:the 2008 performance evaluation and the review of the 2006 performance audit.

The review of the 2006 audit began on May 1 with a letter from the state auditor's office asking for certain information to determine the agency's compliance with the 60 recommendations. The review will determine whether the recommendations have been implemented, or smooth out any disagreements the two may have on certain recommendations.

"There are a number of recs where they agreed with the rec but don't agree with the conditions that caused the rec,"Smith said. "We don't know how to deal with that yet."

Smith added that new interim executive director Bruce Furness has been professional and easy to work with, as opposed to the difficulty the auditor's office had with the former director, Sandy Blunt.

"Our experience with Mr. Furness has been a lot more positive than with Mr. Blunt," Smith said.
