Employees at four Bismarck businesses sold alcohol to minors during a compliance check Tuesday night.
Lt. Randy Ziegler said 45 businesses were tested Tuesday night by eight 18-year-olds working with plainclothes officers.
There are 87 businesses with liquor licenses in Bismarck, and two additional licenses are not being used. The teens and officers went to 47 businesses Tuesday night, but Kathleen's was not open and Tom O'Leary Golf Course was selling alcohol only on the golf course.
An employee at Northbrook MVP, 1905 N. Washington St., sold to an 18-year-old without checking identification. The business had never failed a compliance check before, Ziegler said.
Employees at the Elks Lodge, 900 S. Washington St., Pancheros Mexican Grill, 1225 W. Century Ave., and Qdoba Mexican Grill, 312 S. Third St., checked identification and still sold to the teens.
Qdoba failed a compliance check in April 2007, and the Elks failed a compliance check in December 2004, Ziegler said. He said Pancheros has not failed before.
