Those who have received tattoos in state-regulated parlors in North Dakota are now able to donate blood without the 12-month wait.
The recent change states that if someone was tattooed in a state-regulated tattoo shop with sterile needles and ink that is not reused, they can donate blood.
In July, United Blood Services began accepting people who have recently received tattoos in North Dakota.
The change affects only those who received tattoos after July 28.
Volunteer blood donors must be 16 years old or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. To schedule an appointment, call 258-4512 or go to www.unitedbloodservices.org.
