With school only a few weeks away, this weekend's best bets offer a bevy of entertainment opportunities, especially for kids.
The Shade Tree Players head the lineup for drama with four performances: "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" will be performed at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at Dakota State Ltd., and 2 p.m. Sunday. And The Shade Tree Players Children's Theatre Traveling Troupe also will present "A Midsummer Night's Dream: Or the Night They Missed the Forest for the Trees," 2 p.m. Saturday at Custer Park.
The Burleigh County 4-H Fair also will offer a weekend of activities at the Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building, Missouri Valley Complex, beginning at 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
Another best bet is the third annual Kid's Day, noon-5 p.m. Saturday at Robert Dykshoorn Park in Mandan. And a "Celebration of Children" lawn party will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the former governor's mansion.
A Monster Truck Show and trailer races will also be held today and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Dakota Speedway and the Mandan Jaycees Demolition Derby will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Speedway.
Finally, art lovers might consider attending the exhibit and opening reception tonight for "A Walk on the Wild Side, the Art of Kimberly Forness Wilson," and member artist, Monte Rogneby, from 5 to 7 p.m., BAGA, 422 E. Front Ave.
