Six women have been chosen as finalists for Farm & Ranch Guide's 2008 Country Woman of the Year honor.
The winner will be named at Farm & Ranch Guide's 15th annual Country Woman of the Year awards luncheon, which will be held July 25 at the Grand International Inn in Minot.
Vying for this year's title are the following:
Linda Halvorson, Tolna; Stephanie Klym, Belfield; Cele McFadgen, Valley City; Katherine Plessner, Verona; Katherine Sardelli, Hebron; and Pam Swanson, Turtle Lake.
Halvorson and her husband, Myron, have been married for 44 years. They have been raising turkeys for almost 40 years.
Klym and her husband, Roger, have been married for 25 years. They raise beef cattle and small grains on their farm north of Belfield.
McFadgen, at 80 years old, still helps her son with the farming and ranching chores. For the past 30 years she also has been a school bus driver for the local school district.
Plessner and her husband, Kent, are the fifth generation of the family to farm near Verona. They have two grown children and raise mainly soybeans and corn.
Sardelli and her husband, David, have two children. Besides helping out on the farm, she is also a Cub Scout leader and coaches PeeWee and Midget League baseball.
Swanson and her husband, Steve, have been married for 22 years. Together they operate Swanson Dairy and have two children.
Ashley Andrews, Miss Rodeo America 2007, is the featured speaker at this year's luncheon, which will begin at noon onJuly 25.
