Bismarck police say they are investigating the "suspicious" death of a female.

Police did not release the victim's name, age or other information about the death Tuesday night, saying only that the investigation is in "the beginning stages."

A police statement indicated the incident was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers were on the scene, a one-story house on the 700 block of North 24th Street, at 10 p.m. Police Sgt. Lyle Sinclair said he did not know how long they would remain there.

"As far as I’m aware, there is no suspect in custody," Sinclair said.

He said he did not know how the female was found, her age or what led detectives to believe the death was suspicious, and he could not comment further because he had not been briefed by the detectives.
