Hettinger - Adults in Hettinger want to recreate the experience of a night at the outdoor theater at 9 p.m. Wednesday, and kids older than 13 are invited to the band shell at Mirror Lake, where a comedy movie will be projected onto a 16-foot fabric piece for nighttime movie fun. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. The event is free and sponsored by the Youth Pillar Project.

Linton - The Emmons County Farmers Union annual picnic will be held at noon Sunday at the Seeman Park in Linton. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be provided and everyone is asked to bring a salad or snack to share. The camp bus will leave the park at 12:45 p.m.
Emmons County - A special election for Emmons County Commission districts 1 and 5 will be held Aug. 12, either by mail-in ballot or by polling at the Emmons County Courthouse in Linton. The special election is being held because improper ballot instructions were included on the primary ballot.

New Leipzig - The New Leipzig crop variety tour will be held at 6 tonight at the Daryl Birdsall farm south of New Leipzig. Supper will be served. Sponsors include the Grant County Ag Improvement and North Dakota State University Extension Service. Also, the Grant County Soil Conservation and Natural Resource Conservation Service will hold a riding range tour starting with saddle-up at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Blue Hill Ranch, 17 miles south of Highway 21 from the Leith turnoff. New England - The Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. July 29 in the Memorial Hall in New England on a request for a time waiver and consolidation application by Basin Electric Power Cooperative for a 74-mile 230 kV transmission line from Belfield to Rhame. Regent - A special meeting of the Mott-Regent School Board will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Regent gym. The agenda includes a possible motion to rescind a vote to close the classrooms at Regent, along with re-adoption of a supermajority vote to implement major changes and a public apology for some board members' comments made at a June 30 meeting.

Washburn - The Washburn Municipal Airport Authority will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Washburn City Hall to receive comment for an Environmental Assessment on a project to construct a 5,000-foot runway, with turnarounds, lighting, signs and markings at Washburn. The project involves purchase of up to 200 acres and abandoning about 2,400 feet of public section line. The existing runway would be removed from service.
