Gov. John Hoeven Friday issued a snow emergency order activating all state resources in response to severe weather beginning Friday and forecast throughout the weekend and into Monday.

These include resources of the Department of Emergency Services, National Guard, Department of Transportation, Highway Patrol, Department of Human Services, Department of Health, State Water Commission and other agencies with emergency response functions.

The State Emergency Operation Center has been elevated to Level 3, with 24-hour response capabilities. Hoeven has activated the National Guard, which now has equipment and personnel staged around the state to respond as required.

The DOT has road crews and snow-removal operations under way in affected areas, but only essential travel is advised. Motorists should adhere to all weather warnings and travel advisories. Road condition information is available by calling 511 or on the Web at Highway Patrol is assisting with traffic control.
