FARGO (AP) - Police say an 8-month-old boy was placed in protective custody after his mother and grandmother came to the Fargo YWCA shelter with him and were found to be intoxicated.
Lt. Pat Claus says police arrested the baby's 40-year-old grandmother on suspicion of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He says the child's 16-year-old mother was referred to juvenile authorities on suspicion of child neglect.
Claus says neither the mother or grandmother has a permanent address. He says they were arrested after police got a call from the shelter Tuesday night and officers determined both had been drinking.
