Six people have been nominated to fill two vacant spots on the state's workers' compensation board of directors.
Two positions on the Workforce Safety and Insurance board of directors were vacated by the resignation of Bob Indvik, the board's chairman, and Dennis Schneider: a seat for the "employer with a premium level below $10,000,"and a seat for an "employer at large"representative.
The three people nominated for the first seat areDwaine Heinrich, William Shalhoob and Michael Gallagher.
Heinrich owns a multiple-line insurance adjustments company in Jamestown, Heinrich and Co. Shalhoob is the owner and CEOof Select Inn and Schlotzky's Deli in Bismarck, and Gallagher is the owner of the Fargo arm of Curtis Construction Co.
The three people nominated for the second seat areJohn Dyste, Patrick Schmaltz and Jennifer Day.
Dyste, from Forman, is the owner of Dyste's Food Group, a retail grocery store chain employing 48 people. Schmaltz, from Fargo, is the vice president of safety and human resources at T.F. Powers Construction Co. in Fargo.
Day, also from Fargo, is the safety manager for Cardinal IG.
Most nominees addressed the need for change, or at least the fact that WSI is facing some hard times. The agency has gone through a tumultuous year, culminating with the termination of its executive director and the resignation of the board chairman.
"I have experience with troubled organizations,"Shalhoob wrote in his cover letter. "Iseek input from stakeholders and am a consensus builder."
Gov. John Hoeven has 30 days to appoint a nominee into each position; he also has the option to reject the nominees and ask for others.
