The Bohemian Hall will once again be the rustic host for a Suchy family concert. This is the sixth year that the Chuck Suchy family will host an outdoor night concert at the historic community staple Bohemian Hall.
This year's concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16.
"It turned 100 years last year," Chuck Suchy said of the hall. "It is the cultural center of the neighborhood."
The night will feature the musical Suchy family. Chuck will play as a solo artist and with his wife, Linda, singing duet.
"I do my own compositions of acoustic folk," Chuck Suchy said.
His wife also will perform as the third person in her daughter Andra Suchy's feminine trio, The Dollies, who perform "country covers." Their son Ben Suchy also will perform.
"Ben has his own style of acoustic kind of blues stuff," Chuck Suchy said.
Andra Suchy also has several friends from Minneapolis that she is bringing to perform at the event.
This year is unique in that along with the music there also will be a little art and craft fair of homemade goods, and the night will end with a multimedia presentation of "Along the Heart River" by filmmaker Bruce Wendt of Judson.
"This will be a rare chance to experience Wendt's fine expression of the landscape of western North Dakota," Chuck Suchy said in an e-mail.
The family hopes to once again bring the Bohemian Hall to life through their music. The hall is located 8.5 miles south of Mandan on Highway 6.
"It's right there in our community, and a lot of our music is about the community," Chuck Suchy said. "So we started doing it there and people have responded very warmly. It is an attempt to continue that sense of community."
The concert is outdoors, therefore outdoor gear, such as lawn chairs, will be necessary. Baked goods and coffee will be served. Admission cost is $10, but children under 12 years old are free.
"Come early and have fun," Chuck Suchy recommends to all wanting to attend the annual concert.
