A Bismarck man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attempting to strangle a woman with whom he was drinking.

Rory White Twin, 21, was charged with the Class C felony Monday.

South Central District Judge Sonna Anderson set bond for White Twin at $1,500 cash Monday afternoon at the Burleigh County Courthouse.

Burleigh County Sheriff's Lt. Nick Sevart said a woman called the sheriff's department at 9:37 a.m. Saturday to report being assaulted several hours earlier.

The woman reported she had been drinking south of Bismarck with White Twin, his girlfriend and others when White Twin and his girlfriend got in an argument, Sevart said.

He said White Twin, the 21-year-old woman who reported the incident and another woman left, walking toward Bismarck. The other woman left to pick someone up at jail, and White Twin and the woman continued drinking, he said.

Sevart said the woman reported White Twin began to call her by his girlfriend's name, choked her and attempted to pull her pants down. The woman said she was unconscious for period of time.

The woman walked to United Tribes Technical College, where she talked to a friend and decided to call police, Sevart said.
