There were 80 homicides in North Dakota from 1999 to 2006, plus 13 in the state so far in 2007. Here is a look at some of the local cases, including two from the region this year:


Bismarck, Nov. 3 - The body of Roger Richner, was found in his apartment. One of his roommates, Edgar Arnold Kihn Jr., has been charged with manslaughter.

Sykeston, April 7 - The bodies of Donald Willey, 70, and his wife, Alice, 67, were found in their home after it was destroyed by fire. Authorities said the couple died of gunshot wounds. Aron Nichols, of Fargo, was charged with their murders. A pretrial conference in the case is scheduled Dec. 3 in Devils Lake.


Standing Rock Reservation, Jan. 21 - Melvin Troy Two Shields, then 34, assaulted and killed Thomas Buffalo Boy, 57.

Mandan, Feb. 16 - Joshua Glen Coleman, 26, was convicted of manslaughter in the death of his 4-month-old son, Reese.

Williston, March 15 - Karmen Lindsey, 22, was convicted of killing her mother, Karen Lindsey, during a fight in Karen Lindsey's home.

Bismarck, June 3 - Russell Craig, 43, fatally stabbed his wife, Pamela Sue Johnson-Craig, 47.


Bismarck, May 29 - Germaine Lewis, 75, died in an apartment fire started by Benjamin Newman, 60. Newman was convicted of murder.

White Shield, Oct. 17 - Wayne Deegan, 27, was shot three times and killed by his brother-in-law, Brian McCoy, during an argument. McCoy was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and using a firearm during a violent crime.


Manango, June 23 - Kylie "Kyle" Heinle-Eberle,17, was shot six times by his stepfather, Wade Radermacher.

Hettinger, Aug. 17 - Bodies of Norman (73 years old) and Yvonne Olson (69) found in abandoned farm building after apparent murder-suicide.

Bismarck, Nov. 29 - Body of Ashley Berge, 16, found in bedroom of a Bismarck home. Mark Streeper, then 26, was convicted of manslaughter and two counts of delivery of alcohol to a minor for recklessly causing Berge's death.


Ellendale, May 14 - Kim Casey, 40, was convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of his estranged wife, Cindy.

Williston, May 17 - Casey Conover, 17, died after being struck in the head by Timothy Monette, 19. Monette was convicted of manslaughter.

Morton County, June 12 - Russ Erhardt, 21, apparently shot his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sarah Pittenger, and then turned the gun on himself in what police said was a murder-suicide.

Bismarck, Oct. 30-31 - Neil Harris Hjelmstad, 48, and Arthur John Jacobson, 40, were shot and killed in an apparent double murder-suicide by 45-year-old Jon Joseph Martin in Martin's home.


Dickinson, Jan. 27 - Angela Hansey, 28, was shot to her death by her ex-husband, Tracy Hansey, in an apparent murder-suicide.

Bismarck, Oct. 15 - Infant Lacey Rain Howe was shaken to death. Her mother's boyfriend at the time, Michael McClary, was convicted of child abuse and neglect in connection with the death.

Driscoll, Dec. 27 - Marian Swenning, 73, was sexually assaulted and then strangled to death by Waylon Charette, 21.


Jamestown, March 22 - Raymond Schultes, 64, was shot to death in his apartment by his neighbor, 43-year-old Timothy Klose.

Selfridge, May 12 - Elroy LeBeau Jr., 24, was found beaten to death outside his home. Ronald Long Feather, 26, of McLaughlin, S.D., was convicted of voluntary manslaughter.


Cannon Ball, Sept. 9 - Paul Yellow Hammer was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the beating death of his 43-year-old girlfriend, Alfreda Flying Horse.


Bismarck, Feb. 21 - Robbie Rahrich, 25, was shot and killed by Shawn Helmenstein, then 22, during a robbery at a Bismarck liquor store.

Cannon Ball, July 29 - Lori Little Warrior, 38, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of 52-year-old Frederick Black Cloud.
