Arthur “Art” D. Singer, 84, Mandan, passed away Aug. 21, 2017, at Prospera on Sunset, Mandan. Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial was at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Art was born on Dec. 3, 1932, to Emmanuel and Christina (Fischer) Singer in Dewey County, S.D. He served from 1953 to 1955 in the U.S. Army. Art married Helen Senger on April 5, 1961, in Glencross, S.D. Art started his career in the grocery business as a box boy and eventually becoming a salesman traveling to grocery store, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion for a continuous 50 years and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Art was an avid sports fan never missed watching the Minnesota Vikings or Twins game. He enjoyed playing pinochle with his many friends and family. Art was a wonderful conversationalist which served him well in his career as a salesman. Above all Art’s family was central in his life and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Art will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen; his daughters, Christen (Jim) Kasper, Bismarck, and Teresa (Shane) Felch, Mandan; his sons, Charles and Thomas Singer, both of Mandan; five grandchildren, Madison, Taya, Kaden, Jacob and Hannah; one great-grandchild, Presley; along with numerous friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel and Christine; his sisters, Martha (Ollie) Wicht and Emma (Lars) Jensen; his brothers, Albert (Virginia), John (Emilia) and Adolph.
