Morton County has announced the promotions of 11 officers in January.
“I felt that the structure of the sheriff’s office would benefit from additional leadership positions to allow for quicker decision-making, and we have some excellent staff who have proven capable of taking on that type of responsibility,” Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier said in a statement.
Lynn Woodall, an officer of 37 years, has been promoted to major. Woodall leads all patrol operations and courthouse security/transports.
Bryan Steele and Tom Sharp have been promoted to patrol lieutenants — a first-time position for the agency. They each lead a patrol team of nine deputies, corporals and sergeants.
Steele has been with the sheriff’s office for 19 years and Sharp has served Morton County for 14 years.
Eight corporals and deputies were promoted to sergeant and corporal positions as well. Morton County public information officer Maxine Herr declined to name them.
"We are withholding that information due to privacy concerns," she said.
