Olivia Lacher - Girls swimming and diving
Wow, what a month of November for Olivia Lacher in the sport of diving. The Braves only had two meets in the month of November and they were the big ones, WDA and state meet championships. Olivia had a great WDA on Nov. 4 in the Bismarck Aquatic Center; she took the lead on the first dive and never looked back. In championships meets divers need to have 11 different dives working in different categories and boy, did she put them in the water.
When the day was finished, Olivia had the score of 431.05 points, improving her total score by 70 points, which crowned her as WDA Champion in diving. The score also made her a member of the North Dakota first team All-State and also qualified her for NISCA All-American status. The other divers stepped up to her intensity and we had all six of the Braves divers qualify for the state competition.
The state competition was held over a two-day and three- part span, with preliminaries on Friday morning, semis on Saturday morning and finals on Saturday afternoon. Olivia dove with a heart of a brave, putting each dive in the water, making it through the cuts and into the finals top 16.
The competition was, tough with divers moving up and down in the rankings until the final dive. Olivia finished in fifth place with a score of 391.30, her second-best score of the season.
