Brekke graduates

Army National Guard Pvt. Hollyn Brekke has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Brekke is the daughter of Jo Brekke, Mandan. She is a graduate of Mandan High School.

TriWest donates

TriWest Healthcare Alliance donated $10,000 to the North Dakota National Guard Emergency Relief Fund at the Guard’s Bismarck headquarters at Fraine Barracks. Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general, accepted the check on behalf of the fund, while representatives from TriWest, to include Don Brown, vice president of Midwest operations, and Tim Ray, service area director, presented the check.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is a U.S. Department of Defense contractor that provides access to health care for military members, retirees and their families in the TRICARE West Region which encompasses 21 states, including North Dakota. Their contribution is part of its annual holiday giving program.

Schall promoted

North Dakota National Guard’s David Schall, Bismarck, was promoted to colonel at Raymond J. Bohn Armory, Bismarck, on Nov. 9. Schall has served in the National Guard for more than 33 years.

Presiding over the promotion ceremony was Brig. Gen. David Anderson, North Dakota Land Component Command commander. Schall’s wife, Bonnie, and their children, Rachel and Jack, assisted with the promotion.

Anderson administered the oath of office immediately after the promotion. The oath of office is traditionally administrated to all commissioned officers in the North Dakota National Guard each time they are promoted. The oath re-affirms the officer’s commitment to the Constitution of the United States and the state of North Dakota.

Schall is assigned full-time with Joint Force Headquarters as the deputy chief of staff for logistics. During his long career, he served in both the Quartermaster and Engineer branches. Schall deployed overseas in 1990-91 during operation Desert Storm as the commander of the North Dakota Army National Guard’s 131st Quartermaster Detachment from Grafton.

Schall, a native of Devils Lake, is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Devils Lake, in May 1979 and a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck. He resides with his family in Bismarck.
