An endowed scholarship has been established at the University of Mary in honor of Jane A. (Goven) Senger.
The Jane A. (Goven) Senger Nursing Scholarship has been established by her family and will be awarded to U-Mary nursing students who meet the academic standards necessary to complete a nursing degree and have financial need.
Senger graduated from Turtle Lake High School and St. Alexius School of Nursing (now the University of Mary). She earned her nursing license in 1951 and held key nursing positions in various states and Puerto Rico. Living in Bellevue, Neb., from 1974 until her death in 2016, she was a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross and in 2009 received the Air Force Volunteer Excellence Award.
She was married to Col. (ret.) Pius F. Senger, of Bismarck, for 65 years.
More than 2,000 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 16.
Students earning degrees in December include Jenny Morrow, Bismarck, master of arts, library and information studies; and Ban Dodin, Minot, bachelor of science, biology. Dodin graduated with Highest Distinction.
Atnip makes list
John Atnip, Minot, has been named to the fall 2017 Dean's List at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Ga.
To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade-point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
Mansfield on team
Aidan Mansfield, Dickinson, has been named a member of Alvernia University's men's golf team in the spring 2018 season, while studying at Alvernia University, Reading, Pa.
