Mandan native returns to preach sermon

Brent Schlittenhart, a professor at Wayland Baptist University, Hawaii Campus, will be preaching at First Baptist Church of Mandan, 1100 Collins Ave., at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Schlittenhart, who resides in Hawaii with his wife, Erin, and their son, Justin, was born and raised in Mandan. He attended Southwestern Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, where he received his doctorate degree in theology in 2003. The Schlittenhart family will be providing the music. Multifaith service offered at Sertoma Park

A multifaith Pride service, "Coming Home," will be led Sunday by J.P. Holmes and Karen Van Fossan, along with representatives from other local communities. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship & Church worship takes place at 11:30 a.m. at Shelter #5 at Sertoma Park with a potluck at 12:30 p.m. The congregation also is sponsoring a booth at Pride Fest at Custer Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. 

Fundraiser to support First Presbyterian Church

A women's group at First Presbyterian Church, 310 Third Ave. N.W. in Mandan, is holding a musical fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday. A freewill offering will be taken to assist with the repair of the church foundation and installation of air-conditioning in the sanctuary.
