Custer State Park in South Dakota is closed to visitors until further notice because of a growing wildfire near Legion Lake Lodge that has burned more than 2,500 acres, according to Matt Snyder, Custer State Park's superintendent.

The fire, thought to have been caused early Monday morning by a downed powerline, is spreading to the southeast, and several roads are closed in the area, including portions of U.S. Highway 16A and S.D. Highway 87 in the area of Legion Lake. The fire is burning on both sides of Badger Clark Road just east of Legion Lake.
