The film adaptation of the best-selling Native American novel, "Neither Wolf Nor Dog," will open at Grand Theatres in Bismarck on Friday.
The story follows an author who lands in the heart of contemporary Native American life in the sparse lands of the Dakotas with a 95-year-old Lakota elder and his sidekick.
"'Neither Wolf Nor Dog' is different to any other feature film I have done," said Steven Lewis Simpson, director of the film. "It is the first I have directed based on another writer's work, which indicates how the work spoke to me. The story about an outsider getting introduced into the heart of Lakota County is one that I could relate to in a way few can as that had been my experience.
The films narrative is a road trip from Minnesota through North Dakota into South Dakota, where most of the filming was done.
