Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to “Little Kids, Big World: The Twelve Days of Christmas in North Dakota” at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. This free 30-minute program will be led by program coordinator Stephanie Schick.
Jane Beauclair, the mother of North Dakota author Roxane B. Salonen, will be reading Salonen's latest book, “The Twelve Days of Christmas in North Dakota.” All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
In “The Twelve Days of Christmas in North Dakota,” Piper visits her cousin Henry in North Dakota for the holidays. She goes ice fishing, sees historic forts and theaters, tastes delicious foods and experiences a Lakota powwow. Children and parents will be singing along with Piper and Henry as they explore North Dakota.
Beauclair is a retired teacher who volunteers at a Bismarck school. Salonen is an award-winning children’s author who lives in Fargo. Her first book, “P is for Peace Garden: A North Dakota Alphabet,” won the 2006 Flicker Tale Award.
