The Mandan Zombie Run, slated for Oct. 14, is a 5K “chase or be chased” run around Prairie West Golf Course.

The race features two type of runners: humans and zombies.

Human runners wear flag-football flags. The flags represent lives. The goal is to reach the safe zone with at least one flag. If you lose all your flags, you become infected. Continue to the safe zone because there might just be an antidote.

Zombie runners are released about one minute after the human runners start the race. Zombies will collect as many lives (flags) as they can with the goal of infecting all the humans trying to reach the safe zone.

Check-in starts at 5 p.m. All registrations receive a Zombie Survival Kit, race bib, T-shirt and medal. Other activities include door prizes, costume contest, food and music.

Funds raised support Mandan youth recreational groups, participating nonprofits and the Mandan Zombie Run event.

Register at Cost is $45 before Oct. 1 and $65 after.

All participants must sign a waiver. Anyone 17 years old or younger will require parent or guardian consent. Since zombies are scary, it is recommended participants be at least 12 years old.
