Stepping On is a program that has been researched and proven to reduce falls in older people.
It consists of a workshop that meets for two hours a week for seven weeks. Workshops are led by Vanessa Hoines and Shaundra Ziemann-Bolinske, NDSU Extension Agents and Mandy Slag, Injury Prevention Program Director, ND Dept. of Health. In addition, community guest experts provide infor-mation on vision, safety and medications. Topics include:
Simple and fun balance and strength training
The role vision plays in keep-ing your balance
How medications can contrib-ute to falls
Ways to keep from falling when out in your community
What to look for in safe foot-wear
How to eliminate fall hazards from your home

Stepping On is designed specifically for anyone who:
Is 60 or older
Has had a fall in the past year
Is fearful of falling
Lives at home
Does not have dementia
Pre-registration is required.

Attendance: Class size will be limited to 15 participants. Registered participants should plan to attend each class.
Date & Time: Meets 1:30—3:30 p.m. every Thursday for seven weeks: Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 and November 2, 9, and 16.
