Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. will build a natural gas pipeline to Doosan Bobcat's 700,000-square-foot equipment manufacturing facility in Gwinner.

The pipeline also would give the ability for MDU to serve other customers in Ransom and Sargent counties.

“We finally were able to get all the pieces aligned to make this project a reality," Montana-Dakota Utilities CEO Nicole Kivisto said in a statement about the project, which has been a number of years in the making.

The new 12-inch pipeline will run about 21 miles from a tap into the Alliance Pipeline northeast of Milnor and run southwest to Gwinner.

The project cost is estimated at $13.8 million, and Doosan Bobcat signed a 15-year agreement to take natural gas service from the pipeline. Construction is expected to begin in the spring, and the pipeline should be in service by late summer 2018.
