The chief executive officers of John Deere and RDO Equipment Company addressed employees in Bismarck on Wednesday.

The stop was a part of John Deere CEO Sam Allen’s weeklong trip touring stores through the upper Midwest.

Allen, who was joined by RDO’s CEO Christi Offutt, met with customer Badlands Power Fuels, a drilling fluids and crude oil transportation company in Watford City, before traveling to Bismarck.

Allen and Offutt thanked employees for their hard work, general manager Derek Shaffer said.

“Business is up,” he said. “The agricultural economy is strong in North Dakota as well as construction industry.”

RDO has 75 employees in the agriculture and construction equipment industry at its Bismarck location.

Doesn't it bother ANYONE that there are almost no "mom and pop" dealerships? Where did they go? John Deere wants the big dealers I guess. Doesn't anybody find this a little disturbing? RDO, Knife River, MDU, Titan, Butler (although nowhere near as big), and a good number of gas stations.
I don't subscribe to the loonies but this concerns me.

Wouldn't exactly call someone clueless... Most of us in ND don't care, the majority of ND'ers live in a city, and even a fair number of rural residents do not farm.

Anyway, RDO is #2. Titan machinery (#1) is the largest dealer in the US, but only by a VERY slim margin.

Very helpful, Hobson. Precisely the kind of information a reader would find interesting. Unlike Rock Hauler, not all of us are knowledgeable about all things agricultural in ND. The writer of the article does a disservice by assuming so. I'm sure there are industries and business relationships Rock is also clueless about.

No offense taken Rock Hauler. I admit my ignorance.
