An oil spill at a well site leaked between six and 10 barrels of oil into a nearby stock pond, state health officials said Tuesday.

A statement from the Health Department said the oil leaked from a well site owned and operated by Oklahoma City, Okla.-based Continental Resources.

The location of the spill was reported as approximately 14 miles northwest of Killdeer.

The owner of the stock pond was notified of the spill. The Health Department statement said Continental Resources has already begun cleaning up the site.

An inspector with the Health Department was sent to the site. Messages left by the Tribune for more information were unreturned as of Tuesday afternoon.
