Arguments set in Rodriguez appeal

FARGO (AP) - A federal panel has scheduled oral arguments in the appeal of a man sentenced to death for kidnapping and killing University of North Dakota student Dru Sjodin.

Alfonso Rodriguez Jr., of Crookston, Minn., is awaiting execution in a federal prison for the 2003 killing of the 22-year-old Sjodin, of Pequot Lakes, Minn. His lawyers have appealed the verdict.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has set arguments for Feb. 12 in St. Paul, Minn. Each side will have 30 minutes in front of the three-judge panel.
