GRAND FORKS (AP) - The Grand Forks and Grand Forks Air Force Base school boards are looking at consolidating two base schools.

The Carl Ben Eielson Elementary School and Nathan F. Twining Elementary/Middle School already share one superintendent. The school boards have been looking at changes with the base's transition from a tanker base to an unmanned vehicle mission.

Superintendent Larry Nybladh said the consolidation may be done by next year. He says students will see no change in service.

At the end of August, enrollment at both schools totaled 313.

Col. John E. Michel, the base commander, is to meet with school officials Nov. 24, to discuss the future of the base and its population. Nybladh said the boards will be better prepared to make a decision after that.
