DRESSLER A NOMINEEFORAWARD

Bismarck's Weston Dressler, who plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, was one of eight nominees for the CFL's outstanding rookie award.

Dressler was a unanimous pick in the voting, which was done by the league's head coaches and representatives of the Football Reporters of Canada from each of the CFL's cities.

Dressler has caught 51 passes for 1,028 yards. His average of 20.2 yards per catch is second in the league.

Finalists from each of the CFL's two divisions will be announced Nov. 4 and the winner on Nov. 20.

BISMARCK HIGH CELEBRATION

Bismarck High School will have a celebration for the boys and girls state cross country championship teams at 6 p.m. Thursday. The celebration will take place at the Knaak Center at the high school and is open to the public.

BOXING

PUDWILLTOFIGHTINMANDAN

Mandan's Shelby Pudwill will return to the ring Dec. 6 at the Mandan Community Center. No opponent has been announced for the fight.

Pudwill's bout will be the main event of the card, which is scheduled to include six fights.

Pudwill will be appearing at Gold's Gym for a meet and greet from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday.

WOODSIDE EARNS PRESEASON HONOR

North Dakota State guard Ben Woodside was an honorable mention on the CollegeHoops.net Preseason Mid-Major All-America team.

Woodside is a senior from Albert Lea, Minn., and is the Summit League's preseason player of the year. He's the league's top returning scorer after averaging 20.7 points and 5.1 assists per game last year.

MCCAULEY EARNS PRESEASON HONOR

Bismarck State guard T.J. McCauley has been named a preseason All-American in NJCAA Division II.

McCauley, a sophomore from Lower Brule, S.D., averaged 18.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season.
