Cross-border tax sessions planned
Two seminars being held in Fargo next month will offer state tax information to business owners who conduct business in both South Dakota and North Dakota.
The South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation and the North Dakota Tax Department are hosting the Border Tax Seminars, scheduled for Oct. 15 in the basement community room of the West Acres Mall, JC Penney wing, 3902 13th Ave. S.
A sales and use tax seminar is set from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with a tax seminar for contractors scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m.
Seminar topics include how and when to apply for a sales tax license; when to apply North Dakota vs. South Dakota tax; exemptions from sales and use taxes; agricultural products and production; how contractors' excise tax applies to South Dakota and North Dakota contractors; exempt entities; local taxes; use tax; and filing returns.
Both seminars are offered free of charge. Interested individuals can register by calling the South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation at 800-829-9188 or online at www.state.sd.us/drr2/businesstax.
Bismarck care center elects officers
Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Inc., Bismarck, has elected officers for the coming year.
Elected were the Rev. Jake Kincaid, chairman; Alton D. Larson, vice chairman; Brach Johnson, secretary-treasurer; Robert Thompson, president/CEO; Jeffery Wanek, vice president/CFO; and Dr. Bruce Hetland, medical director.
