10 years ago (1998):Medalist Tiffany Anderson carded an 84 to lead Century to the team title in the Dickinson Invitational high school girls golf tournament.

Century totaled 354 at Heart River Golf Course, 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Minot's 370.

Anderson and Minot's Briana Berryman both shot 84s, but Anderson secured medalist honors in a one-hole playoff.

Crystal Klein carded an 86 for the Patriots, while Annie Jesperson scored an 88.

Erika Sullivan led Beulah with an 85, good enough for third place individually.

Kristy Schaaf's 88 led Mandan to a fourth-place finish.

20 years ago (1988): Monte Schmaltz is the youngest of the three football-playing sons of Dan and Mary Ann Schmaltz. Brothers Mike and Marc are both playing at the University of North Dakota.

Now Monte is being counted on to help the Saints get to the playoffs after missing out in 1987. He's off to a good start, but the obvious comparisons to his talented brothers haven't always been flattering.

"I think it's kind of helpful because Mike and Marc help out a lot," said Monte, who has rushed for 209 yards in two games for St. Mary's.

50 years ago (1958): GLENULLIN- Glen Ullin has 10 lettermen returning for football this year, but lost eight regulars from last season's team.

Coach Edward J. Hollinger says the team this year mist depend on six sophomores in the starting lineup, but that "if they come through we should be fairly strong."

Lettermen include George Gartner, Richard Herz, Richard Staiger, George Schantz, Donald Fitterer, Gary Horst, Cliff Schultz, John Richter, Douglas Gietzen and Edwin Fitterer.

Promising newcomers include Kelvin Gietzen, Bob Serr and Virgil Freitag.
