Mike Lefor ’80 – Golden Hawk Award

The Golden Hawk Award is the highest honor the DSU Heritage Foundation
gives out. It shows loyalty and commitment to go above and beyond for
their alma mater. It also shows professional achievement and significant
contribution to the community, state or nation through public service. This
year’s recipient is no exception.

Rep. Mike Lefor attended Dickinson State University and graduated in 1980.
Even before He is a man who is great at business. He can communicate well
with all levels of staff and is not afraid to get his hands dirty when needed.
He is the chief executive officer of DCI Credit Services and owner of Blue 42
Bar & Grill. He was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives
in 2014 where he serves as the Republican caucus leader. Mike is also the
chairman of the District 37 Republican Party.
From the American Collectors Association, Mike has received the Beacon
Award, Education Award, Red Coat Club Award, Scholar Degree – Collection
Business Management, Fellow Degree – Collection Business Management,
and the International Fellowship of Certified Collection Executives. He was
treasurer of the North Dakota Retailers Association Board of Directors
from 2001-2004. He served as president of the Associated Credit Bureaus

of North Dakota from 1987-1989. Mike served on the Dickinson Park
Board from 1986-1993 as well as 2002-2014 during which he served as
president from 2006-2014. He was a member of the Planning and Zoning
Commission from 1988-2003 and served as chair from 1992-2003. He
served on the Board of Directors from 1996-2012 with American Collectors
Association in which he is a currently serving on the Council of Delegates.
Mike served with the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation from 1997-2005 and
as president from 2002-2005. CHI St. Joseph Health board member from
2005-2014 and chairman of the board from 2008-2014.

Mike resides in Dickinson with his lovely wife, Sherryl. They have three
children: Brett, Scott and Andi.
The DSU Heritage Foundation recognizes all of Mike’s accomplishments.
Mike has done a lot for Dickinson State University, DSU Heritage Foundation,
the City of Dickinson, as well as the residents of North Dakota. His charisma
draws in other leaders, and his leadership skills set an example for others
to follow. Mike is a great family man who deserves to be the 2017 recipient
of the Golden Hawk Award.
